The III International Colloquium on Philology and History (COFHIS) is an event promoted by GEFILL – Philological and Lexical Studies Group of the Institute of Letters of the Federal University of Bahia – by NEHiLP – Support Center for the Research in Etymology and History of the Portuguese Language – and Embira –Paper Laboratory (both pertaining to the University of Sao Paulo) – by CIDEHUS – Interdisciplinary Center for History, Cultures and Societies of the University of Evora/The Foundation for Science and Technology, and by the UNESCO Chair in Intangible Heritage and Traditional Know-How: Linking Heritages (University of Evora). The Colloquium is supported by the Postgraduate Program in Philology and Portuguese Language of the University of Sao Paulo, the Postgraduate Program in Language and Culture of the Federal University of Bahia and the University of Evora. The first COFHIS was held in 2021, online, by the initiative of the Philological and Lexical Studies Group – GEFILL of the Federal University of Bahia, aspiring to socialize research and discussions on Historical documentation and violence and resistance narratives in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 2023, the II COFHIS also took place online, with the subject Social minorities resistance trajectories in texts from the 18th and 19th centuries. On this occasion, the event was already organized NEHiLP – Support Center for the Research in Etymology and History of the Portuguese Language – and Embira –Paper Laboratory (both pertaining to the University of Sao Paulo) – by CIDEHUS – Interdisciplinary Center for History, Cultures and Societies of the University of Evora/The Foundation for Science and Technology, and by the UNESCO Chair in Intangible Heritage and Traditional Know-How: Linking Heritages (University of Evora). After two online editions, the III COFHIS will be held in situ, at the University of Sao Paulo, from October 15 till October 17, 2025. It aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogues between Philology, Historical Linguistics and History areas, bringing together undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, professors and researchers, along with basic education teachers and other interested parties, around the subject Methodologies in perspective and contemporary social-political challenges.

PARTICIPATION MODES
- LISTENER: Certificate issued for participants with at least 75% of attendance.
- PAPER SUBMISSION: Communications submitted by higher-education professors, researchers, postgraduate, graduate and undergraduate students co-authored by their advisors shall be accepted, as long as related to the subject of the event.
EVENT SCHEDULE:
Listener registration period: until September 19, 2025.
Communication registration period: until June 25, 2025.
Scientific Committee abstracts evaluation period: until July 31, 2025.
Communication acceptance for publication date: August 22, 2025.
Payment of the communication registration fee deadline: September 6, 2025.
Event period: October 15-17, 2025.
