The Graduate Program in Portuguese Philology and Language at the University of São Paulo offers stricto sensu academic postgraduate courses at the Master and Doctorate levels.

The Program's professors work in six lines of research, developing projects that take as their object of study the Portuguese language approached under the philological and linguistic perspectives, and lead research groups with national and international projection, as well as an interdisciplinary research nucleus.

Created in 1971, the Program has historically been responsible for the qualification of teachers who work in major postgraduate programs in Letters and Linguistics across the country. Today, it maintains intense integration and solidarity activities with emerging national programs, cultivates important interfaces with basic education, and has consolidated its presence in the international context.

Admission to the Program is accepted through a selection process held twice a year. The organization and planning of the Program is conducted by nine committees made up of teachers and students.
