Admission
Admission to the Master's and Doctorate courses of the Philology and Portuguese Language Program is carried out annually through a process consisting of three stages:
- A language proficiency exam - Proficiency in Portuguese, for foreign candidates;
- A specific knowledge exam, consisting of an essay based on previously announced bibliography;
- An interview, focused on the presented research project.
The announcement that details the process, as well as the rules and conditions for entering the Program, is published by the area every six months.
International Students
The Program welcomes international students, and has hosted an increasing number of graduate researchers from the Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
The Admission announcements and procedures is run by the Department of Vernacular Letters, and the process is fully conducted in Portuguese. Please be advised that a medium level of proficiency in instrumental Portuguese (reading and writing) is required of all candidates.
However, if you are an International Student and you feel that you need orientation in English on how to participate in the Admission Process, please contact the Program's coordination, at flp@usp.br.
We will be happy to assit you!
You can also find further information about international student's programmes at USP's International Cooperation Office.
